The aircrew for one Tu-160 consists of pilot, co-pilot, bombardier and defensive systems officer. Two Blackjacks flew to Venezuela on Dec. 10, so that’s a total of eight Russian aircrew. However, an additional 100 Russian military pilots apparently flew aboard the transport and passenger planes that accompanied the bombers. All of this begs the question: Which aircraft are this rather large group of Russian pilots going to be flying while conducting “joint air force” drills with their Venezuelan counterparts?
