WW4 File: Russia responds to reports of Azerbaijan destroying missile launchers based in Republic of Armenia amid shaky cease-fire, Yerevan has appealed to Moscow-led CSTO for assistance in repelling Azeri-Turkish assault against Nagorno-Karabakh AND Armenia proper, instigated on Sep. 27; Kremlin mouthpiece Dmitry Peskov says defense ministry “verifying info,” while FM Sergei Lavrov proposes deployment of Russian “military observers” in disputed ethnic enclave, with approval of opposing camps; Baku claims to have taken out two missile launch systems in Armenia, bordering Armenian-occupied district of Kalbajar in Azerbaijan: “The first launch site was aiming at the Azerbaijani cities of Ganja, Mingachevir and other populated areas”; Yerevan admits launch sites hit but denies targeting Azeri civilians; meanwhile Baku also claims it countered Armenian missile attack against BTC pipeline in Yevlakh on Oct. 6, Yerevan rejected allegations: “Azerbaijan’s reports of Armenian troops’ attempt to strike the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline are outright lies”; Artsakh Defense Army claims Azeri forces targeted civilian hospital in NE area of enclave: “This is an obvious war crime and the entire responsibility for its consequences lies with the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan”

Russia’s intervention in the current round of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will pit the CSTO against NATO, due to Turkey’s involvement on the side of Baku.
