Blast from the Past File: Donald Trump’s penchant for marrying Slavic ex-models prompts questions concerning past (present?) covert East Bloc influences over billionaire-turned-politician; Czechoslovak StB routinely spied on emigrees, opened files on Trump, first wife Ivana Zelníčková after their marriage in 1977, Agent “Langr/Chod” noted Trump’s presidential ambitions as early as 1988; StB apparently started “operative file” on Ivana (possibly implying her cooperation), but documents not yet located; Donald and Ivana divorced in 1992, marriage produced 3 children—Donald Jr, Ivanka, Eric—who manage Trump’s business empire; StB also opened file on Ivana’s father Miloš Zelníček, retired engineer died in 1990; Czech President, ex-red Zeman enthuses over Ivana’s offer to assume role of US ambassador to Prague: “[It] would be an extraordinary confirmation of our alliance and friendly relations with the U.S.”; Internet awash with rumors of America’s second-ever foreign-born First Lady-designate Melania being a “Russian spy” (even though she’s Slovenian); however (as previously posted) party records show Melania’s father, Viktor Knavs, was a cadre of the former Yugoslavia’s ruling communists
